Happy First Day of Summer!

Summer used to be...
Lake Powell lizard hunts. Sand castles and Capri Sun. Hikes. Heat. Lulling waves.

Summer once was…
Courtship.
Hand-holding, utterly-distracting courtship.

Summer currently is…
White sandaled feet.

Summer often has been…
Swimming pools; but the late High School nights, long talks, and dear friends of the past have been replaced by a terrifyingly independent two year old. (“SWIMMING!” “Self!” “Self!”)

Two years ago Summer was…
Post-baby "get-in-shape" goals
This Summer is…
No-good-excuse "get-in-shape" goals

Last week Summer was…
A crashing river and a canyon breeze

And tomorrow, like yesterday, Summer will be…Butch-watering,
smoothie-making,
power-struggling,
park-playing,

stroller-riding,
country music-listening,
patience-seeking,
play dough smashing
HAPPINESS!

Lucy has stopped saying “Move-a-sunshine!!!” when the rays shine in her face.
We’re soaking it in!

Aaah summer... so many good memories! Today we're going to buy a wading pool so we can keep cool! (Super cute pictures of Lucy. William came up and asked "who's 'at girl?" I told him and he replied "oh LUCY" as if he knows just who she is)

Summer is friends coming to visit! We want to be there to overlap Michelle...when is Wes family coming/going? Love these pics of Lucy...My favorite summer in the whole world is the one that many of us spent together at Southridge...good times my friends. Can't wait for William and Lucy to grow up and be at BYU together.

Could Lucy be any more adorable? Wow! I love the one where she's super excited with her mouth wide open. Yay for me coming home and seeing you all . . . soonish.

Oh, one more comment, you are writing a book and it is the greatest treasure you could ever produce. Can you imagine how much you will love this history when you are my age? When Lucy is my age it will be such a precious gift.

You are creating cellouse copies? I love technology, but there is nothing like a book.

Oh Lori.....I love reading your blog! You are such a writer! I can still feel the feeling of summer nights as a child and a teenager.....St. George summer nights are the best!!! Unless of course it is still 100 degrees...even then it is great :)!!! Have a great reunion!!! We are all jealous!

I agree with the other comments. This history is so precious. Terry and I talk about how we should do something like this and I'm so intimidated that I don't get at it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful memories, stories and beautiful life with all of us. Our love for you goes beyond what I can express. :-)

Looks like you're quite the photographer yourself! I love the pictures with Lucy and the ducks. How absolutely adorable! And I might have to borrow the idea of the Twister picture. I love the graphic element and the color of it. You're wonderful!
