Fall

Yesterday Lucy and I cleaned the kitchen while the Little Women soundtrack played on the I-pod. (Let's restate that. Yesterday, I cleaned the kitchen while the self-declared "Ballerina Cleaner" pranced and pirouetted around by my side. And I wouldn't have traded her company for all of the merry maids in town.)

Today we shared an acorn squash for lunch.

Last Saturday Wes and Lucy went on a daddy daughter date to the last home football game of the season. ("We saw real cougars!" Lucy exclaimed when she got home. "They fell down!!")

Everyday we love the color of the leaves against the color of the sky.

Everyday we love the sight of Spencer's eyes peering out from under his little hats.

Last night I sat up next to Wes and his Excel homework, needling a little embellishment onto Lucy's Christmas stocking.

Last Monday we pulled out the Thanksgiving books.
And last Tuesday I finished reading Breaking Dawn. I wasn't really planning to read it after being so disappointed with Eclipse. But I'm glad I did! I thought the characters (who were all making me CRAZY in volume three, especially Bella) were so much more relatable and likable in this fourth volume. Such fall fun to curl up with a book!

This morning the kids and I went for a walk. Cool air. Grey sky. Crunchy leaves. It was romantic. Made me think of Wes. Made me feel generally reminiscent and generally GRATEFUL.

Thanksgiving time.
So beautiful.
So nostalgic.
So meaningful.
Mmmm.

What do you love about this time of year??

Fall is great. (I posted about loving fall a few weeks ago.) And walks during nice weather is the best. Quentin recently started walking to school, and on some days, I plop the kids in the double stroller and meet him halfway home. It's lovely.

I love the family time like harvesting, yard work, big leaf hunts, vacations, holidays, drives, etc. I also like to watch the trees turn and notice the leaves falling.

Hate to admit that I waste most of the Fall dreading what comes after....Winter! I love Fall too--football, Thanksgiving, etc. I need to try and enjoy and not worry about the next. We have had a beautiful Fall here in China. It has just turned cold this last week. Glad to see the Cougar tradition carrying on. Great for daddy and daughter. Her comment about the real Cougars falling down is priceless. Love you guys.

We love the fall and all the crunchy leaves to walk through. Also love the days that deserve hot cocoa and warm blankets.

I love the crisp fall weather, the food (pumpkin rolls, pies, and all Thanksgiving foods), Thanksgiving, the crunchy leaves.

William was quite jealous that Lucy got to go to a Cougar game. And he also commented that she had a cool shirt on.

I love plopping on the heater at home with a blanket, sealing all the warmth in around me...with a book in hand, of course.

Thanksgiving for fall

Our fall is not as colorful as yours, but it is here! Only 67 degrees right now!

We love the food, the cooler weather, the gratitude we feel for being so blessed.

Sister Truman, Did you just work a haiku into your blog comment? You lyrical soul you. Maybe next time I'll have to comment in iambic pentameter.
