For Lucy

You woke up on Tuesday and told me in your groggy morning voice, "I still feel like I'm four." Smile.
Surreal as it seemed, we gave high fives all day and you had a wonderful time.

Wednesday, you emailed a birthday recap to your aunt. Your description was delightful:

I just had a birthday and I loved the present you gave me I got some other presents too and now I,m 5 five 1 2 3 4 5 we had a fun time and then I blew out my candles At the moletypes (multi-purpose) building and then I saw a rainbow and then I took my polly poket off of the cake we cheket outside to chek the rainbow and it was raining i Put my yellow umbrella up and we went back inside I put my umbrella down and we went to mimi,s we ate dinner and we went outside and I went to the Bathroom with grandma packer mom was in there too I was having so much fun I even got some balloons and then I didn’t notice it was night already and I said to my mom and dad can we watch a little show and mom said maybe or maybe not and my dad said I’ll choose maybe and then spud said da da da da
the end.

It really was a perfect day. Your daddy directed the morning celebration (I was at CA training. Wouldn't feel like your birthday without it!). Every hour or so throughout the day, you popped balloons with special messages inside...

...messages like: "Eat Mickey Mouse pancakes!"

And: "Open the package from Grandma Truman!" (You'd been waiting patiently all week!)

And: "Frost the cupcakes."

There were surprise balloons tied to our front door after lunch (one of the more thrilling moments of the day).

And you were delighted when Grandma and Grandpa showed up for dinner at the restaurant of your choice:

Then, cake and presents galore!
You are super spoiled, my dear.

But, oh, you are so loved.

More, I think, than you realize.
Happy 5th Birthday, Darling!

Oh! I'm so glad she got a rainbow on her birthday. What a special blessing from Heavenly Father :) I love her excitement as exhibited in the picture in front of Mimi's with your parents. Too cute!

Those Minnie pancakes are just too cute. I've got to tuck that one away somewhere for future reference! And I loved Lucy's description of her day (and the fact that she mentioned each time she went outside--that girl loves her sunshine, doesn't she).

Sounds like the perfect birthday! And I love the email she typed--OH! And the quote on your wall about the "tiny little dresses" at Target! Ha! I laughed and laughed about that one!
