Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head

It has been previously documented on this blog that Lucy likes ducks. And rain showers. And picnics. But what about a combination of the three?

You should attempt a rained-upon picnic at the duck pond someday with someone you love. When they (or you) start to feel a little dubious about the rain drops on their stroller and on their peanut butter sandwich, you should tell them (or yourself), "Don't worry! This is an adventure! We're having a rainy adventure!" And then, after the rain dies down a bit, you should emerge from the semi-shelter of the trees and the stroller and you should feed the ducks the remains of your sandwich. And then maybe every day for the next two weeks that beloved someone will ask you a question like, "shu we do a 'venture in the rain??"

And when they do, you'll remember that making lemonade out of lemons is a lot more fun than eating lemons plain. And you'll be grateful that your mom and your grandma were so good at making lemonade. And you'll wish that they had given you a recipe for their lemonade. But you'll be glad that you have vague memories of the procedure to help with your own batches.

And you'll also be grateful for an Eternal Father who's eternal plan teaches everything one needs to know about lemonade making. And you'll be glad that even though life's "'ventures" are sometimes sour and often rainy, they usually have a happy ending.

(Like the happy ENDING of training and check-ins that arrives with the approaching long, labor-day weekend! SIGH!!)

Why hello there...
I love the post nad of course the pictures. I posted to my blog about Saturday but in case you don't get over there...

It should work perfect for us at around 3ish, depending on Spencer's naps, hopefully he will nap in the car on the way down, so we could even be there earlier. I just have to let Jared know that we are going to Provo on Saturday the 8th and hopefully there isn't a conflict with that. I will keep you posted...okay so you have to go and check the response on my blog because I don't remember everything I wrote there.

Beautifully written... reminded me of "When you give a mouse a cookie" :) You are so good about having "ventures" with Lucy AND making lemonade... wish I could have YOUR recipe. (And YEA for the end of training and check-ins!)

that was a ril cute one! Life's lemons have been on my mind a lot lately and I'm amazed by how many varieties of lemons there are. Don't you feel like when it rains, it pours? It's good for learning and growing.

How did Lucy get such curly blond hair anyway? She is so pretty. And Utah looks so beautiful! It's pretty out here in the east, but it's always so humid that you can hardly enjoy it!
I love the pictures.

I loved this post! I don't get to read many books these days--this sort of fulfills that need in my life for today!

"Shu-we do a 'venture in the rain?" that is so sweet! I love Lucy to pieces -- and I don't even know her. You captured the beauty of your adventure perfectly, Lori. Your blog is such a sparkly treat to visit.

As I was looking at your blog this morning, Megan saw the pictures and said, "We love those guys, huh mom?" I said, "Yes, we do love those guys." She again confirmed, "Yeah, we do." We also LOVE your blog and the sweet reminders to enjoy the simple things of life!

"Somewhere over a Rainbow..." a young girl sang unaccompanied on a stage.... Somewhere over a rainbow 'ventures sparkle bright on the horizon...as do the salty tears of happiness and love, tenderly flowing from observing eyes. The wonder of it all. Thanks for allowing us a sweet taste of your of 'home-made lemonade' hmmmmmm good!

Heather and Heath - we're planning on next Sat the 8th! I'll be tied up with Primary until about 2:45...but come whenever you can! You two can hang together until I'm done. Then we'll start officially at about 3:00?
Fab.

Jeanine - I've never read "When you give a mouse a cookie"...good to have a title for our next library outing! Wish we could visit your sounds-so-darling-piedmont library

"Mrs. Cropper" - yes, pouring rain seems to be the way it all goes down, as illustrated by your life's experiences this week! YIKES. I'm so glad all went well at the doc's! (and that it gave you excuse to tell me some happy news...)

Tayna - I hope your weather turns more favorable soon! And your question about Lucy's hair is one I get ALL the time. Perhaps it deserves a general answer...sometime soon.

Em - do you think our kids will ever grow out of "cute-isms"? Henry and his sour pickle face has me in stitches! I love these little kidos!

Lindsay - so glad you're settled enough to be blogging again!

Maria - Oh, Megan is such a sweetheart!!!! We love and miss your family so much! Wes was glad to talk to Mark on the phone the other night! We'll be thinking about your guys on Saturday! Thanks for commenting!!

Mom - yikes. That 'somewhere over the rainbow' memory is a pretty scary one! Love you! - and can't wait to be with you this weekend!!

Lu - love you too!
How is school?? We've been thinking about you tons!!
