Clusters of Crocus
Every pending spring when I was a child, my father took me into our yard to examine the season's fledgling flowers. I still remember the soul stirring excitement of spotting tiny splashes of purple and white among winter's drab, moist remains. I am still stirred by the sight of Spring's first, brave crocus bulbs.
Rebirth. Resurrection. Restoration.
Don't know quite how to share the magnitude of these spring stirrings and symbols with my two-year-old, but this Easter week we will try our best to learn and celebrate together.
In the coming days I'll document a few of our simple spring doings, all the while acknowledging that our Easter time traditions are fledgling - just like the crocuses peeking around my parents' front door.
I'd love to hear how you and your family celebrate Easter! I'd love to hear your Easter memories and traditions!
Because, let's be honest with myself: I LOVE this hopeful holiday!!

Lori Lori Lori,
Even on your own blog you manage to make yourself a good listener. One of my goals in life is to hang out with you, and just hear what you have to say. Without letting you lull me into therapeutic rambling about myself.
"Rebirth. Resurrection. Restoration."
Beautiful pictures, beautiful words. Thank you.
I saw some crocus popping through the ground at the park just the other day. It would be safe to say I got pretty excited. :)
Lori! I have to admit, I haven't been blog hopping lately, and it looks like I missed all sorts of good stuff. Congratulations! A new baby and Wes and...WOW! You are incredible! I couldn't be happier for you guys!
I too have some crocus's popping up. I love this time of year for several reasons. Madelyn is also very excited about mommies flowers that are starting to grow.
I will admit that it is hard to teach a 4 year old or 2 year old for that matter what the real reason for the season is. They just don't fully understand the importance of the holiday. I have been working with my Primary kids though and they seem to get the holiday right, of course they have to mention the candy and eggs.
Love this post. Let's see... Easter traditions. Well, for starters we've been trying to have FHE lessons about the real meaning of Easter. We used the pictures in this month's FRIEND. Another tradition from growing up that I've carried over is to do our Easter Egg hunt on Saturday so that Easter Sunday is reserved for the true meaning of Easter. CAn't think of anymore at the moment... I may be back.
LOVE those pictures!
Lori, I too am so excited for Easter! I posted about a great idea book on my blog. Using some of those ideas I think Lucy will catch on that this holiday is about Jesus, just like Christmas, or even more than Christmas!
It's harder to appreciate spring here when it is sunny all the time. It was cloudy and cold yesterday and Ry said, "It's such a nice day." But...I did glance out the window this week and notice that our tree in back has beautiful pink blossoms on it. It's amazing how quickly things change and grow.
Okay, I'm really not just saying this, but I think Tyler and I have watched the "Lamb of God" video and/or the "Finding Faith in Christ" video almost every Easter. Not really a tradition, yet, but for some reason in the evening we always look at each other and ask what else we should do to remember the meaning of this Holy celebration, and that seems to be our answer for at least 3 years running. Just a thought.
