Alas...
Our workload has just been abnormally heavy. Despite the hours of building prep, key packets, training sessions, check-ins, and check-outs, however, I feel surprisingly refreshed. Our busy days have been buried in peaceful, happy moments.
Like Saturday morning strolls to the Cannon Center for breakfast. We don't bother changing Lucy out of her jammies for the outing. Can one really enjoy one's weekend waffle in anything but soft, slept-in separates? We especially love bumping into Lucy's similarly PJ-clad playmates. I love this picture.

And then there was the afternoon last week that we took Lucy to pick out a present for the B-O-Y we've been talking so much about. We came home with a cheerful bit of blue in our Target bag and with excited smiles in our hearts.

The general effect of all the encouraged boy-enthusiasm is that Lucy now readily and happily admits that there is a baby brother inside of mamma's belly. (Although she still holds that there is a baby sister inside of her own.)
And even with all of the boy talk around here lately, last week featured a few happy doses of female company. Due to my busy work schedule, I couldn't attend all of BYU's Women's Conference with my mom and sisters, but the time and sessions we did snatch together were WONDERFUL.

In other news, Lucy had her first haircut last Sunday. You likely won't be able to tell the difference, but I love it! Her lengthening curls were losing the happy bounce that she has long been famous for. All it took was a few snips and the beloved bounce is back! The down side is that Lucy has a new affinity for scissors. I've got to hide all of the real ones lest her now daily proclamation, "I'll give you a haircut!" produces disastrous results!

Well. This update, while sadly incomplete, is becoming super long. Suffice it to say: We have had happy comings and goings amid our busyness.
And the state of our souls?
Sunshine, music, springtime, gladness. All of those things are in mine. While tears of tired frustration sometimes squeeze from my eyes (ahem. We certainly had scattered showers around here this morning...) they are never terribly prolonged.
No, it is more often blessings than tears that fill and keep spilling out of my cup - and one blessing is just now walking through the door after an evening with the neighborhood's young men.
That's my cue. Cheerio!

I'm glad to "see" that you guys are doing well and having lots of springtime fun. And that you're gearing up for the new boy addition :) Oh and beautiful pics of the tulips, we'll have to check out that park!
I love that picture too :)
And I love Lucy's reinvigorated bouncy curls...now that I know, I can tell :)
And, can you believe you only have 10 more days that you can post "Tales of a two year old" ????????????
I feel so loved :) This post made me all over happy. I love that you guys got the Jungle Book! Perfect. And the picture of Lucy with the scissors=priceless. Thank you for a happy end to my day!
Good idea on Jungle Book - I love the man cub reference. So much cuteness oozing from your blog!! Go Trumans!
You are too cute! We love your family! We think you're so great!
Oh, I knew that clippie would look lovely in that bouncy hair of hers! I'm so glad you like it! Lucy was the perfect recipient! It's so great to be busy with life... glad you are having fun!
...and I can't wait to add Jungle Book to our library. I also really want Tarzan (how could I not... Tarzan gets adopted by the apes! It's perfect!)
Love the post and glad to see that you are enjoying the nice weather while it is here, considering Utah springs you have to live it up while it lasts.
I think Lucy has the cutest exuberant grin ever! It reminds me of pictures of myself when I was little (minus the adorable curls)...I will have to see if I can find one...
So happy to see spring sunshine (most of the time :)
knew you wouldn't be able to get away without posting for long :) I love your baby countdown...where did you get that picture and does it update automatically? also love Lucy's new quotes...and sad we played phone tag yesterday...we'll talk soon :)
ps. Just read your new quotes. Lucy is a girl after my own heart... I could listen to the Return to Me soundtrack forever too!
You guys are amazing to me in more ways than I can say. What beautiful pictures too!
It's good to hear your "voice" again...I can hear you talk as I read your post! :) I love your update. Life can get so busy sometimes, but isn't life great! I'll have to remember the secret to rejuvenate Jessica's curls when her hair grows longer. I thing she is about a year behind Lucy. I love those curls!!
We love you guys! You two are such great parents and Lucy and baby boy Truman are so very blessed to have you. Beautiful family and beautiful pictures.
Well, that post may have been for Jeanine, but I sure enjoyed it ;) Isn't it such a treat when those male "blessings" walk through the door after they're filled their church duties? Always a highlight around here, too!
Amy Jean - don't remember where I got the photo...and no, it doesn't update. I manually change it every week. Sad we missed you guys too! We're dying to connect!
I love your pictures...I can't believe how big our girls are getting! Can't wait for your boy to come!
