Remembering

I ought to review my "Leading an Effective Discussion" lesson plan and go to bed. But...I think I'll let sentimentality override that pragmatic notion while I sit here scrolling through files of summer pictures.

And while I scroll I'll wonder how three months of summer grass and sunny skies seem to slip so quickly through your fingers.
I'll wonder how it's possible for a little girl to grow so much in such a little time.
I'll savor happy memories...
When the cat's away (at scout camp), the mice will play!

Then the mice will run away to Grandma and Grandpa's house. To swim...
And sleep.
To eat their breakfast on the patio...
and to have whipped cream on their pudding...
until the cat finally gets back.

(But you can see that it's not the cat who does the pouncing at this house.)
Ah memories. What's that great line, God gave us memories, that we might have June roses in the in the RA Training Week of our lives...? Something like that.
It has been, indeed, a wonderful summer. Worth remembering.
And my conclusion, prior to lesson review and bed, is that life is wonderful.
I read once that when President Hinckley was a missionary in London, he and his companion would shake hands every morning and say to each other, "Life is good." I had a seminary teacher who would repeat the same phrase as he pumped our hands before each seminary class period.
And you know what?! It is.

"Life in the service of the Lord is good. It is beautiful. It is rewarding....Be happy in that which you do. Cultivate a spirit of gladness in your homes...Let the light of the gospel shine in your faces wherever you go and in whatever you do."
-Gordon B. Hinckley

Guess that means even at RA Training. =)
Here's to it!

CHEERS!
I'm adopting your quote to this week because I can't believe it is already time for Fall to start again. I may need June roses, but this year feels different going in, it's my 3rd RA training week, how many for you Lori?

Is it RA training already? Have a great time, and thanks for the uplifting message. It will be good to remember when I'm trying to be patient with two-year-old tantrums and little baby cries at the same time.

It looks like the mice had lots of fun while the cat was away. Good luck with the next few weeks, with RA training, having a baby, and just being a mother! Life truly is GOOD!

Looks like you had a fun time when Wes was at Scout camp! Ezra and I did the same thing - we sure missed Scott when he was away, but at the same time, we went out to eat, played at the park, went swimming....
