You are blossoming right along with the springtime. (And...sporting a little spring sunburn on your arms. Sorry.)
Last week you were with us when we said goodbye to Ryan, my oldest brother's oldest son, who has been our neighbor this semester. It was a little tender for all of us to wave him off. You were appropriately solemn as we walked back to the car. Then, after a few quiet minutes, you said brightly, "But I'm still here!"
And it's a good thing, because I'm not sure I'll ever be able to wave you off. To college or to kindergarten.
I love your predictability. Every day outside the cafeteria you query, "Um, could I pick a rock?" Every night before bed we hear your dramatic declaration, "I need a drink of milk!"
I love your excitability. Birds ("Oh, there's another one! OH! There's even more ones! Mom, do you see them! Right there by the car!"). Airplanes. Red bug cars. Yellow bug cars. Pine trees (the self-declared subject of your first Primary talk coming up next Sunday. ????). I love your love for life.
And I love your comments that continually catch us off guard. Like the other day when Grandma asked if you'd like to help her set the table and you said, "Sure. You put the rugs on and I'll put the plates on top of them." Or like this morning when you were determined to keep a hard-to-hold Spencer on your lap and crooned, "Bud, you don't have to wiggle so in stress!"
You are all things bright and beautiful. What would we do without you, sis?!

Oh Lucy. What an adorable, incredible girl! Lori, keep up the writing because she will be so grateful for this history. You are amazing girls. What a pair. Love you.
She is pretty fantastic. Will we get to view a rendition of her primary talk on the blog? Pine trees could be a very deep and important subject I'm sure.
She really is so precious. You have a great way with words. Thanks for all that you share with us.
i love the rug comment! can you believe that you will soon have a 4 year old on your hands? I can't either.
Oh she's just too sweet. Wish I could see her again...
My favorite line: "But I'm still here!" What a little peach.
Glad to know I'm not the only mother with angst about sending my first off to kindergarten. I'll be your blog-shoulder to cry on if you'll be mine?
The 'tales of a 3-yr-old' are winding down.... What a sweet ride it has been.
I hear her voice often when we are traveling in silence and suddenly Lucy calls out: "We're coming!"
Keep it coming Lucy and Mom. I too would love to get her first primary 'talk'. Love you.
So cute! I loved this post! I love the funny things she says too. Don't you wish you had a tape recorder on her all the time to tape all the funny things she says!?
