I Hear Babies Cry, I Watch Them Grow

Sunday afternoon at my parents' house.
Louis Armstrong singing from my dad's stereo.
Spencer giggling as I hold him and dance for the duration of a favorite song.

After the whirling and twirling, Dad says with a sentimental smile, "You'll have to do that again when he's two inches taller than you."

And I think to myself...
Two inches taller than me?
That won't ever happen.

(Will it?)
What A Wonderful World

I love it. I remember before James was born thinking things like "we'll have more kids and they'll be able to watch William..." Oh wait. WILLIAM will be the older one... HE'LL be the one watching the other kids! He was always my baby and I couldn't imagine him any bigger.

Isn't is sad that one day they will grow up and be 2 inches taller than you.

When I was little, I remember being very put out when it was pointed out to me that one day my younger brothers would outgrow me. I was sure I was always supposed to be the biggest. Otherwise, how would I tackle my brothers? (Not quite the same, I know, but this post reminded me of that...)

Those are cute pictures of Spencer.

2 inches... I think it will be more than that, Lori!

They grow so fast. So important to stop and enjoy every moment possible!
