Pajaro: Day Four

You might not know that in addition to playing the harmonica, our friend Ryan is a magician. He had a few tricks up his sleeve for our (and especially Lucy's) Saturday morning entertainment. (And to this day I occasionally catch Lu-la-bell, concentration and great expectation in her eyes, tapping various things three times with her finger.)

After the magic show it was back to the beach...

"fetching the ocean"

"I'm so glad this house comes with a beach!" was maybe my fav Lucy-ism of the trip.
Spencer was there too!

We tried our best to keep Heather and Royce on the beach with us...
(Have I mentioned that my kids love Heather and Royce?)
...so the rest of the crew could turn the beach house into a Happy Birthday Royce! house.
And it was thanks to the birthday boy that our book club meeting actually happened. It was a fun discussion of a favorite book.
Wish I had a picture of Ryan writing up our suggested book themes (don't abbreviate!) on the beach house blackboard. (In retrospect, though, I don't think we gave our resident English teacher enough time to adequately illuminate us with insights. I vote for a follow up discussion. Everyone free this weekend?)
And that evening we had a babysitter! Amy's Grandma Jones (our gracious host)...
...sat with our sleeping babes so we could have a night on the town. Thanks, Grandma! The token drama involved getting chewed out by the pizza guy for trying to unstack a few chairs to sit on (heaven forbid). It all worked out in the end!

The next morning (Sunday) we waved goodbye to the beach...
...and climbed back into the car!

Thanks Amy&Ryan&Adam&Rachel&Heather&Royce&Michelle for the 173 (+) wonderful memories!
Thanks to the rest of you for tolerating the lengthy travel log!

I add my thanks to friends and family for the fun I personally have had reliving your memories. And yes, I wish every house came with a Beach Lucy! My heart swells with love for memories that warm out hearts in winter time.

I wish that my house came with a beach... that's for certain! And I love that you guys had a book club... and that it was The Little Prince. Everytime I read it I think of Tanya reading it to us in coziness that was Southridge.

Jeanine, I mentioned our readings with Tanya a few times throughout our book club decision/discussion. Remember how we would beg for another chapter or two, but she would decisively tell us we had to wait. So, so fun!

I have loved the adventure/vacation...you make me want to go on one of my own, perhaps this month we could make that happen with a fantastic trip to Idaho (but perhaps not until Labor Day, school really throws a kink in things.)

You have inspired a fun filled trip to So. CA for me. We WILL take a whole day to spend at the beach, and hope that we all come out of it alive. Oh and you must have the best of friends to road trip with.
