Prior to our family prayers we all take turns mentioning things we're particularly grateful for. Tonight was no different. When we finished, Wes called on Lucy to say the prayer, but just as she drew breath to plunge into her memorized monologue he said, "and do you think you can remember to thank Heavenly Father for all the things we said we're grateful for? There was a nod of agreement followed by bowed heads:
“Dear Heavenly Father, we’re thankful for this day. Did you hear the things we said? So…you can remember them. We ask thee to…(follows: Lucy's traditional prayer)”
Amen.

Haha! Oh, goodness, yes those children's prayers. Haley will insert things we tell her to--a bit more smoothly than Lucy, there--otherwise, it is just the same. Haley's REAL bad prayer habit is talking too fast. (If it's not understandable, we make her do it again.) On Sunday, she blessed the snack in Sunbeams, and the little boy there said after, "Wow! That was fast."
oh.my.word. Once again Lucy has shown us the way :) definitely needed to hear about this moment tonight...we're grateful for you Lucy!
so, so cute! and glad to hear we're not the only ones struggling with repetitive prayers. Actually, at this point, we're just thankful that Henry's willing to pray -- for a while there, he wanted nothing to do with it!
Thanks for sharing Lucy with us. I love her!
Ah.....don't you just LOVE children!!!
Love this! Makes perfect sense :)
Got to love it..! and you must admit that she is right, He did hear all those things you talked about.
So glad to know that William's not the only one with repetitive prayers. Sounds like William is a lot like Emily's Henry. For a while he didn't want to say prayers at all. He's starting to do a little better at both... LOVE her prayer. Too funny
I love it! We are trying to help our children with this right now, as well. Asher has started saying his standard prayer randomly throughout the day...I think we do need to work a little on sincerity.
Oh, yes Lucy, He did hear the things you said, and he does know and thanks for reminding me. Love you all.
