The children and I have just returned from a trip to Texas without Wes (he stayed home to work). Poor Lucy was pretty broken up about leaving her dad behind. Before we all parted company last Saturday, she tearfully demanded that I print a picture of Wes that she could keep with her while we traveled. She carried it faithfully. Pretty much everywhere she went.
One afternoon I found her hiding under the dining room table, studying it soberly.
She loves her daddy.
I do too.
And I love my own dad (fun to have him as our chauffeur for the week!)
Glad Father's Day is on the horizon.
Celebrating HERE.
For the record: Lucy's loyalty to her father faltered briefly on our last day in San Antonio. As we drove home from a beautiful private pool, complete with lazy river and H2O playground, someone mentioned leaving for home the next morning. "I don't want to leave!!" Lucy cried.
"But Daddy will miss us so much!" I responded.
"We can talk to him on the phone." Lucy reasoned. (It was a pretty sweet water park =)

What a sweet girl! (And the last story sounds like something that would happen with my boys :)
I know why Lucy is a "Daddy's Girl"
Wes is a pretty special Daddy! I am so happy to have that Daddy be part of OUR lives too.
That last comment is too funny!
Zach carried a picture of Phil around when he was in the Air Force and gone for six months! It is one of my favorite photos, a smile on both their faces, wonder if I could find that again . . . Lucy does have a good daddy, we love him too!
this makes me smile so much!
Lucy reminds me so much of Clara! I can see that same scenario happening at our house--complete with her sound reasoning at the end. :)
