Celebration #4: The Grand Parade
Wes took his noble self to Center Street at 5am to save us a spot.
Bless his heart.
Parade in the shade is the only way to go.
Spencer did a lot of clapping...
and a lot of climbing...
and as I watched him slap hands with soldiers,
(of various armies)
I couldn't help wondering a little about what his future will hold.
Good things, I hope.
Well, 'twas a good, long morning, as usual.
And it was an equally glorious afternoon. (Did you know Santa works year round these days??? We didn't know! Check out that bike! And that SMILE!)
A new set of wheels seemed an appropriate way to culminate the holiday weekend.
I should have blared a little Ragtime from our windows while Lucy rode:
BEYOND THAT ROAD,
BEYOND THIS LIFETIME,
THAT CAR FULL OF HOPE
WILL ALWAYS GLEAM
WITH THE PROMISE OF HAPPINESS
AND THE FREEDOM WE'LL LIVE TO KNOW
WE'LL TRAVEL WITH HEADS HELD HIGH
JUST AS FAR AS OUR HEARTS CAN GO
AND WE WILL RIDE,
EACH CHILD WILL RIDE
ON THE WHEELS OF A DREAM
Happy Independence Day, indeed!

Absolutely darling pictures. We were there too, but your spot was a million times better than ours!
Oh yeah...Queen of the Road! Looks like fun, but we missed seeing you Monday. Love ya.
I just love the picture of Spencer with the missionaries in the background! Really. Love. It.
And a new bike for Lucy!!! Hooray! Hopefully those bike bandits don't come back!
Hey Lori, what's up, how's life for you guys??
My sister was in that parade! She's a sister missionary in the Provo mission. I wish we could have been there with you at the parade as I always loved the BYU 4th of July parade, it's just the right size, and I would have loved to see my sister. Glad to see you guys are having fun!
Looks like fun! Nice pictures! What are those shirts from/for? We couldn't tell...
Really, it looks like you guys had a great time celebrating the fourth! I like the idea of your patriotic devotional...you guys always have such great ideas.
Oh, hooray! Santa celebrates the Fourth of July!!! What a perfect day! Love you!
And I can just see Spencer Dee marching in the white shirted army!
Oh my, Lori, I just have to say that I love that you know so many musicals. :) Ragtime is an all-time favorite of mine. Were you able to see Audra McDonald while she was here in Orem? She might actually still be at the Hale, I don't know. And are you going to see Brian Stokes Mitchell when he come to BYU this year? Hope so!!!
Love Lucy on her big girl bike!
