Halloween (The Rest/Random)

We did sporadic celebrating through the month and had a fun October!

Love that yearly Peaden Scott Halloween card (have you seen Rebecca's pilgrim hats/bonnets??!  I want to buy ten million of those for a Thanksgiving table!)

And love that we have a house to burn our seasonal candles in!  Mmmmmm.

Other random fun:

Because we have no local Jamba Juice,  our annual "Pumpkin Smash," had to be improvised.  Frozen yogurt + pumpkin puree and spices + almond milk + ice cubes = a passable likeness.  While blending, I remembered Anne and Taylor's milkshake ghosts and decided we should definitely paint up some jack-o-lanterns.

Lucy's was darling.

Spencer opted for a scarier (chocolatier) version.

Either way, tasty.

Another night we made Jeanine's pizza pumpkins.  Very fun.

And while we didn't do any decorating at home until Halloween Day...

(Don't you love Leesee's bags?!  I'll let you know when she opens her store. )

... we did take a few pumpkins to the cemetery...

Tiny ones.

Spencer played with those rocks f o r e v e r.

When it was time to go home, we left them on the headstone as intended.  Two days later I woke up with a start thinking about those painted pumpkins.  What if the orange had somehow washed off ?! And stained the stone??!  I strapped Spencer in the car and we drove the hour round trip to make sure.

Phew.
I moved them to the side, though.  Just to be safe =)

Other than my perpetual irrationality, the last piece of randomness to report is how a few weeks ago, Lucy had been given a tootsie roll at school and came home so anxious to find her little brother, who happened to be at my parent's house that particular afternoon.  Lucy sighed with disappointment,  "But I saved half for him!  I opened it, had one bite, and then rolled it up again!"

Spencer was so happy when he got home.  (But not quite as pleased as me.  Sure love these two.)

All of your Halloween posting is darling! Sharing the tootsie roll, oh what a precious big sister. And I wish we had a pumpkin patch like that around here, way too fun. Well, maybe we do and I haven't found it yet. Thanks for sharing your kids' Halloween cuteness!

Oh that Lucy and her half eaten tootsie roll makes me smile :)

And I just love the little jack-o-lantern rocks for Wes. So sweet.

It looks like your October was full of ups and downs and love and happiness. :)I love all the fun traditions you continued or created anew for yourself and your babies this year. Thanks for sharing them with us too.

The jack-o-lantern milk cups are adorable. Glad none of the paint stained Wes's stone. I hate those panicked kinds of moments--that sure is a cute way to share the holiday with Dad!

Dearest Lori,

I was trying to email you, but the email I have for you is old. I hope you don't mind me posting my email on your blog. It is the only way I have to contact you at the moment:

I was listening to a talk yesterday morning and thought about you. I thought I should email you about it, as you might find it meaningful right now. It is titled "None Were With Him" by Elder Jeffery R. Holland (General Conference- April 2009). Here is the link to the talk if you are interested in reading or listening to it.

http://lds.org/general-conference/2009/04/none-were-with-him?lang=eng&query=*+(name%3a"Jeffrey+R.+Holland")

Also, I don't know if you have ever read any books by Kate DiCamillo, but she does an excellent job of writing in a way that expresses many emotions that I have felt in the past relating to family, love, loss, greif, hope, etc. You might enjoy reading some of her books on some of these cold winter days ahead of us. They are very uplifting. Your kids might also enjoy them. A few titles that I particularly love are: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Magician's Elephant, and Because of Winn-Dixie.

Hope you are doing okay!

Lucy is an angel. You are so blessed! But she is like that because of you! I am so not surprised.

I also love that Lucy saved half a tootsie roll to share! I also love the rocks, the pizza, the milkshakes, the costumes, and all your other fun festivities! I didn't realize that the Red Barn does a corn maze, but it looks like fun!

I am glad to see that you guys enjoyed the card. I am glad you like the Pilgrim Hat and Bonnet Boxes too. Unfortunately, there is no way I could finish ten million of them for you...my little studio just couldn't handle that many. :)
