City of Joseph

Been loving this past month of D&C Sunday School.  Revisiting the history of the Restoration fills my heart with so many precious memories.  Including many from the summer Wes passed away that ought to be part of my little file

So this week I'll try to sneak some late night or early morning hours to revisit those moments. Or at very least post a few (thousand) pictures.

Several weeks ago, Lucy and I were visiting at the kitchen table about nothing in particular when she asked a doctrinal question that sparked an excited, lengthy  motherly response from me.  When I paused somewhere for breath, she seized the opportunity and asked (almost amused), "Mom, how do you know all of this?!"

I paused for a moment, caught a little off guard by her question.  But the answer was clear, and caught a little in my throat.

"Joseph Smith,"  I told her.  "The prophet Joseph Smith."

One of my most favorite places on earth and I am also extremely grateful for that man and that city.

Oh how I miss that Nauvoo Temple. I really didn't spend much time in the Nauvoo "village" while on my mission, but we sure did take as many opportunities as we could to go to that temple. In many ways that temple has a more special place in my heart than any other.

I always wondered how you know "all this" too. You are a special instrument sent from above to keep us all in tune.... Love you, yours, and the memories of important events.
