Lucy, of course, enjoyed the egg event.

She knew just what to do. She was a seasoned pro. It made me a little nostalgic for my last-year-Lucy, who, at not-quite-two, was so taken with and so amazed by all things egg-ish. I remember watching her toddle around the house, toting mix-matched plastic Easter eggs, exclaiming in her ever-animated voice, “look-a-zoze-eggs!!” After a few days of non-stop egg excitement, I thought I should do something to capture the memory. So I wrote a really cheesy poem for us to recite while engaging in our Easter egg-play.
In memory of those days-gone-by, and in honor of this year's egg season, I now give you (prepare yourself!):
Look At Those Eggs! ...and a few pictures of a littler Lucy (*sigh*)
(Mind, this poem should be read with all of the I'm-alone-with-my-toddler enthusiasm you can muster!)
When I woke up this morning, bright colors met my eyes.
Blue! Pink! Yellow! Green!
What a beautiful Easter surprise.
Look at those eggs!
Plastic eggs make a fun new toy.
Open them, close them, roll them, and giggle as they wiggle-woggle by.
Look at those eggs!
My grandma says eggs can be colored: dip in and out and then – VOILA!
(Voila...that was Lucy's fav part!)
Your white egg has magically become a bright and colorful friend!
Look at those eggs!
My daddy says eggs are special.
They hold a promise inside.
Mother bird sits quietly, patiently, ‘til a new baby bird peaks outside.
Look at those eggs!
My mama says Easter is special too.
It also holds a promise.
It reminds us of Jesus and what he did to give new life to all of us.
As Easter sights surround me, I think about things that are true.
When you see Easter eggs, you can think about Jesus too!
Look at those eggs!
(I know: it's a stretch! But it's bound to live on as a Truman family tradition.)
Do you have any fun egg traditions? I've been loving this egg creation!
Happy Egg-dying, friends!

Will you please, PLEASE, nanny my children? I'll pay you well!
You are too cute, Lori, as always. I bought a dozen eggs this afternoon that I have every intention of dying tomorrow. I'm so excited! I haven't dyed Easter eggs in ages, and even though I know Garrett's too young to truly appreciate it, I think I'll still pretend he's having a fabulous time. :) Happy Easter!
You are too cute! I love it. I wish we lived close so that William and James had your wonderful influence! We plan on coloring eggs tomorrow... should be fun.
ps. and now that you've shared with us your poem writing skills... I KNOW that you can write us an Easter book.
Dying eggs is so fun! I love the colors of Easter... they make me happy! And I for one, love your Egg poem! What a fun mom you are!
Thanks for the reminder of coloring eggs...totally forgot about that, have the eggs already in the fridge just waiting for the wonderful color. Hope that tomorrow goes well and sorry that I won't be able to make it down.
you are so creative with poetry! I love Easter eggs- the bright colors are so happy. I can't believe how much Lucy has grown just from looking at last year's pictures...wow. We're having an egg hunt tomorrow, it should be fun.
We had our own egg dying fun here last night...with 3 cranky kids fresh from a 10 hour car ride...but...I enjoyed creating my 2 twin duck eggs :) My fav time ever was Easter with pregnant Lori and you guys showed me that you can do more with eggs than leave them sitting in the dye :) We are getting snow here this morning for Easter...and I actually love it since I haven't seen snow in ages! Happy Easter!
How fun, what a great poem and tradition! Fun to see old pictures of little Lucy! She has grown so much since last year!!
I love Easter traditions too, but I don't have any unique ones!
It's funny, just today I thought there aren't really any fun happy Easter songs (outside of the like 2 that actually get sung in the hymn book). And I was thinking with all the genius in this world, someone should come up with one. And, without even knowing it, Lori has this amazing poem already written. I should memorize it!

Lori, this is just further evidence that you should write a book :) I think "Look at Those Eggs" would be a perfect title!
