Dear First Born Child (who I treat like an adult and order around like a slave),
I love you.
I'm so glad you're still a little girl.
I'm so glad you have a cutout Nutcracker on your bedroom door...
...a Christmas pup tucked into a cozy pillow case bed...
...and a holiday kitty as prominent member of your manger scene.
I'm so glad you love Santa Claus...
I'm so glad we had a special Christmas date together last week.
And I just loved that you couldn't wait to introduce Grandma Packer to Junie B when we were last in Bountiful. ("Have you read these books?" you quietly asked Grandma shortly after our arrival. "No! But I'd like to!" Grandma said with characteristic enthusiasm. Your smile was as wide as the sky, "That's just what I was hoping you'd say!!")
In jr. high I roughly hand stitched together a little angle to top the small Christmas tree I always put up in my bedroom. I gave her long, curly, golden hair and thought she was beautiful.
I think my heart was just anxious for you.
Love you, my little Christmas angel.

I love her beautiful Christmas dress! Also that she loves Junie B.! I bought the series years ago hoping I'd someday get a niece who would want to read them with/to me...however I have a niece who hates reading (o: Life is unfair, right?
Also, I think all manger scenes need a Christmas cat!
Most importantly, she is just SO CUTE!!!
I think we stopped by the Sunday you must have taken those last two pictures. I remember hoping that you had taken her picture because she looked so beautiful that day (which, it turns out, is not an uncommon occurrence for that girl).
Hmmmmmm.... the 'Magic' of Christmas. Angels and all. With just the right mix of a 7-year-old imagination. Love it all!
The very opening of this post made me smile because I too have a first born child "who I treat like an adult and order around like a slave". It's hard being the oldest. Love that Lucy-girl!
Oh Lucy, my Goldilocks angel! Merry Christmas!
