Preschool

In honor of preschool enrollment season (already?!?!), I thought I'd share a little glimpse of what I do when I'm not under the covers!

It would be easy to upload a few pictures (all used with permission!) and say:
"We're having a good time!  Tell all your friends to come sign up!"
But you can probably imagine that feelings run a bit deeper than that.  Feelings for the little friends who are a big part of my life a handful of days each week!

Truly, "children are an heritage of the Lord."
It is such a privilege to celebrate the world with them.

I love these boys and girls!  We've all learned so much together this year!  I have chalk in the pockets of every pair of pants I own! My prized possession is the falling apart five inch black binder of children's songs I inherited from my mother.  Spencer sits with his nose to the window twice a day, waiting for all of his friends to get here.

There are ten thousand cherished little preschool memories swimming in my heart that I ought to write down.  Like the December afternoon when I brought out a few instruments for the children to play along to "The Little Drummer Boy,"

but spontaneously realized I ought to tell the them the story first. So they sat on the rug and I told them about the poor little boy who wanted to give a gift to baby Jesus, but didn't have anything of value except his drum. So he took it to the stable.

It's hardly ever silent in our classroom.

"I played my drum for Him, pa rum pa pum pum"
"I played my best for Him, pa rum pa pum pum, rum pa pum pum, rum pa pum pum"

But it was silent that day.
For those moments.
And my heart will always remember.

I'm trying to play my best for Him too.  And for these happy, busy, bright, excited little people I know He loves.

My best is not perfect.  I still have a lot to learn about being a teacher.  It's a huge job.  But at the end of the day, I can't think of another one I'd rather be doing.

I'm so glad you like your job! I can't think of many people who I believe would be as good for it as you are either!

One of my friends has a brother who just moved to Payson--she said she would forward this on to him (he's got a son who is 3, so I'm not sure if they want to start him this year or next). I told her to tell him to forward it to his neighbors--we'll see!

I think I'll just move to your neck of the woods so we can go to your preschool. Those little kids are so lucky to have you for a teacher! Way to go Lori.
